Our Dogs - T. K. Icelandics

RALPHS BIRNA She arrived to our ranch in May 2000 from Randi Jonasson, Victoria, British Columbia and it only took her one day to become part of our family! She loves working our cows and sheep and then comes into the house with us and lies under the kitchen table while we eat. In other words where we go she goes! She had her first litter of 8 healthy pups in September 2002 that is an unusually big litter. Her second litter was 5 healthy puppies in 2004. Bjardna’s third and last litter was born in September 2005, eight pups again. From that litter we kept Audurs Skúta. Birna has now retired from breeding but continues to work with us. Bjardna has had her hips tested for Hip Displacia and is rated excellent. Her eyes have been CERF tested and are normal. RALPHS BIRNA (Bjardna) is registered with both the United Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club.
KAPPI He came to us in June 2003 from Sigurður Jónsson, Flúðum, Iceland. Kappi is very athletic, covers a lot of ground in no time! He just loves it when we play ping-pong, he gets to catch all the balls off the table and sometimes he gets too excited and ends up on the table. He never uses his voice inside, just comes to my knee and tilts his head when he needs to go outside. Kappi went to Calgary Kennel Club show in March 2006 and won best male of breed. Kappi has had his hips tested for Hip Displacia and are rated good. His eyes have been CERF tested and are normal. Kappi is registered with the Icelandic Kennel Club, United Kennel Club, the Canadian Kennel Club and the American Kennel Club. Kappi has retired from breeding but continues to help us train the young dogs herding.
LAVENDELS MÍA Mía came to us Aug. 05.2004 from Laurie Ball-Gisch at Lavendel kennel. Again we have a great addition to our family. She has very good herding instincts and also feels that she has to look after the kids. The only time she gets upset is if she hears the kids outside and she is in the house with me. As you can see in the above picture Mía is very alert while she is working. Mía has had her eyes CERF tested and they are normal. Her hips have been PennHIP tested and she has the score of 0.60 (R) and 0.63 (L). Lavendels Mía is registered with the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club. Mía has retired from breeding and is waiting for the right family to retire with.
PINERIDGE VANADÍS Vanadís joined our family April 24. 2005 from Jill and Norm at Pineridge Icelandics and earned our love at first sight. She is a very alert girl, her tail always up and nicely curled. Vanadís has a good, thight doulbe curled tail. She is such a happy dog and gives the biggest smile, showing teeth and even snorting with laughter!! Vanadís has OFA hip score Good. Her eyes have been CERF tested 2010 and are normal. Vanadís is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and American Kennel Club. Vanadís has retired from breeding and is now living with our friends, the Sommerville's in Endiang Alberta.
EMERALD ISLE ARI (call name ANDI) We heard about this interesting pup from James Hansen, watched pictures of him and his littermates born on Aug. 20. 2005 and just couldn't resist!! Andi shows his unique genetic background with his one blue eye. There are old stories of Icelandic Sheepdogs with blue eyes but they have mostly been bred out. Andi has a very thick, soft coat and is turning red now. In Andi we have a very calm character. Emerald Isle Ari has been PennHIP tested and has excellent score 0.33 on both sides. His CERF test 2011 is normal. Andi is registered with the American Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club.
AUDURS SKÚTA Skúta is an offspring of Ralphs Birna and Kappi, our pick of the litter. When she was born she was very dark brown, and no surprise she is turning nicely red, just like her dam. Skúta loves to run around with all the dogs, then rest with her mom and get a little cleaning. As all our dogs Skúta is a very gentle entity, great addition to our family. Audurs Skúta has OFA hip score Good. Her eyes have been CERF tested 2011 and are Normal. Audurs Skúta is registered with the American Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club. AUDURS MÓA Móa is an offspring of our Lavandels Mía and Pineridge Hvartur, Sunna and Rebekka's pick of the litter. Móa is a very sweet puppy and when she is playing she makes what we call monkey sounds, very fun to watch and hear. Móa is registered with CKC and if she passes her health tests will be used in our breeding program. THRYMHEIMS TUMI Tumi came to us from Cathy in Michigan, another wonderful pup. He brings great lines to our breeding program, is a little bit related to our Kappi (which we think is a good thing!). Of all our pups Tumi has the best recall, have hardly had to work on that at all! He has a lot of energy but knows to relax with the family in the house. In loving memory VÍNLANDS RONJA It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our beloved Ronja. She was hit by an oil truck summer 2009. Vínlands Ronja came to us from our good friend James Hansen. We had been waiting to get a pup from this line for a few years and Ronja was worth the wait!! She is a very smart dog and knows what she wants................good thing we know how to handle her. Although we have not really started her working she has shown us that her herding instincts are very good. Ronja was born May 2007 and is registered with the American Kennel Club, United Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club. Ronjas perliminary OFA hip score is Good and her eyes have been CERF tested and are Normal	.
